A Canyon County locksmith for car keys and nothing else
Car Key Experts makes keys for cars, pickups and minivans: a key made in a farm yard, a remote programmed in a ranch-house driveway, a locked car opened at a river trailhead. The cutting machine and programming equipment come with us. Looking for a locksmith in Melba, Idaho, to rekey a front door? We do vehicles only.
The small towns, and the roads we take to them
- Melba. South of Nampa, out toward the Snake River and Celebration Park. Highway 45 leads there from Nampa.
- Greenleaf and Wilder. West of Caldwell on Highway 19, which is also the road we take to reach you.
- Notus and Parma. Northwest of Caldwell, near the lower Boise River; calls there usually mean a driveway or a field edge.
- Sunnyslope. The wine area south of Caldwell, reached from Nampa along Karcher Road (Highway 55).

Helping us find a car with no easy address
A rural mailing address doesn't always match where the car sits: the back of a field, an orchard row, a canal bank. Name the nearest crossroads, something we can spot on the way in, and the vehicle's color.
Calling for a worker whose key quit in the yard? Say so at the start. Before any car is opened or key cut, the person at the vehicle shows the registration or title along with a photo ID; if the pickup belongs to someone else, call before we head out and we explain what that takes.
Farm yards, the lake and the river
- Farm and orchard yards. A pickup key left on the dash of another vehicle that then leaves the yard. A second key made while the first still works keeps the pickup going until the first one comes back.
- Sunnyslope tasting rooms. Keys locked in the car in a tasting-room lot, or set down among the vines and never seen again.
- Lake Lowell. Boat ramps and shoreline parking at Deer Flat National Wildlife Refuge, where keys set on a tailgate end up in the wrong bag or left behind.
- Celebration Park. A key lost on the river trail. If it was the only key, the new one is made beside the car.
Out on a ramp or a farm road with a child or pet stuck in a locked car, in summer heat or hard cold? Call 911 first, then us.
Read the key before you call
Look at the blade, the head and any buttons: they show which of the three parts your key has. An all-metal key is just a blade that turns the doors and the ignition, with no chip for the car to check, though some older GM keys hide a small resistor pellet instead. A plain plastic head most likely carries a chip, a small transponder that must answer the car before the engine runs; buttons mean a built-in remote, and a fob with nothing to put in the ignition belongs to a push-to-start car. See how to tell car keys apart.
Nampa, Caldwell and Middleton
Home base is Nampa, where this site starts. The larger towns have pages of their own: car keys in Caldwell, home of the College of Idaho, and car keys in Middleton, up along Highway 44. Anywhere in the county, we also handle keys made when none are left, fob programming and ignition repair.
